Chequer plate is available at the same price where nothing should fall through onto what is below. Painted safety nosings are available on request and are routinely expected on a public or commercial stair.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHandrails to both sides is the normal requirement. Welded metal railings or key clamp, at the same price: key clamp is the standard industrial answer and quicker to repair if something hits it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHot dip galvanised after fabrication, so cut ends and welds are coated too. No painting, no maintenance, decades of service. Where the stair is on the front of a building and has to look like it belongs, we galvanise and then powder coat to any RAL colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eReplacing a corroded escape stair\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA large part of this work is taking off a rusted stair and putting a new galvanised one in its place. Painted steel escape stairs go at the treads and at the tread to stringer welds, and by the time it shows on the surface the section underneath is usually gone. We can come and assess an existing stair as a chargeable professional visual assessment, checked against current regulations, which tells you whether it is fit to keep. The usable width of a spiral is a good deal narrower than the diameter suggests, because the treads taper towards the centre column and you only walk on the outer part of them. That makes a spiral excellent for occasional access and awkward for carrying a wardrobe. Decades outdoors with no maintenance, which is the point of it. Galvanising is a functional finish, not a decorative one. The coating varies in colour and texture across a batch, it weathers from bright silver to matt grey, and you can see where the steel has been in the bath. It is not something to assume, and it is not something a dropdown can tell you. None of those fit a price band, and they are a large part of what we actually build. So treat the options as a guide to roughly what a stair costs, not as the limit of what we make.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMost of our stairs are quoted rather than priced online, in truth. Anything with a turn in it, a kite winder, a half landing or an intermediate platform.
