These are our guide lead times by product. They are the figures we would give you on the phone, written down so you can plan around them rather than having to ask first.
Everything below is a guide and not a promise. A firm lead time for your own job comes with your quotation.
Guide lead times by product
| Product | Guide lead time |
|---|---|
| Staircases and balconies | 5 to 8 weeks |
| Balustrades | 3 to 5 weeks |
| Glass | 2 to 4 weeks |
| Well covers and framed walk-on glass floors | 5 to 8 weeks |
| Wine cellar doors and glass floor hatches | 6 to 12 weeks |
| Juliet balconies | 3 to 6 weeks, but two are held in stock in the common door widths: the stainless steel and glass Juliet balcony and the galvanised steel Juliet balcony |
| Handrails | Stainless steel wall handrails are cut from stock in a few working days. Other stainless handrails, including stainless on posts, are 1 to 2 weeks. The powdercoated steel handrail on posts is 2 to 4 weeks, because it is galvanised and powdercoated by subcontractors before it comes back to us |
| Washing line poles | Various sizes in stock, others 2 to 3 weeks |
| Canopies | 3 to 5 weeks, some in stock |
These are a guide, not a promise
We publish them because a range is more use to you than nothing, and because most people asking are trying to work out when to book a fitter, a plasterer or a scaffold. What they are not is a delivery date. A date gets committed to on your quotation and on your order, not on this page.
The finish you choose changes the lead time
Many of these figures depend on the finish. Galvanising and powdercoating go out to subcontractors rather than being done in our own workshop, so once a finish is involved we are waiting on somebody else's schedule as well as our own. That adds time, and how much depends on how busy they are that week.
Self-coloured steel and stainless steel stay with us throughout and are usually quicker for that reason. Our material finishes page covers what each finish does and what it is suited to.
The clock starts at drawing approval
Where a job is drawn, the lead time runs from your approval of the drawing rather than from the date you ordered, and nothing goes into the workshop until that comes back. If a drawing sits with you for a fortnight, the fortnight is on top.
Not everything gets a drawing. A cut to size glass panel, a wall fixed handrail or a stock item is a standard construction we already hold drawings for, so it starts as soon as your sizes or your order are confirmed.
Always contact us for current capacity
The only accurate lead time is today's lead time, and it moves with what is already on the workshop floor. If you are working to a date, ask us before you order rather than after.
Call 0114 243 9009 or email sales@diomet.co.uk and tell us what you need and when you need it. If we cannot hit your date we will say so.
