10mm clear toughened safety glass, cut to your millimetres. Polished edges, 5mm radius corners, toughened to BS EN 12150 and impact classified to BS EN 12600. It is the panel we cut more of than everything else put together: the standard infill for framed glass balustrade systems, indoors and out, domestic and commercial.

How to order

Pick the width band and the height band your panel falls into. We then cut it to the exact millimetres you give us.

  • 500 x 500mm is the smallest band. We will happily make a 400 x 400mm panel, so pick the 500 x 500mm band and give us your exact sizes
  • Largest size online is 2000 x 1100mm. Anything larger, or an unusual shape, is quoted individually - send us the sizes and we will price it
  • Set the quantity to the number of panels you need at that size. Different sizes need adding separately
  • Send us your exact sizes after you order and we will confirm them back to you before the glass is cut

Raking panels for staircases

If the panel follows the pitch of a flight rather than sitting square, choose "Raking for a staircase" under panel shape. Any angle is fine, and you do not need to work the angle out yourself. Send us the two vertical heights and the length along the pitch, or a sketch with the measurements on it, and we will draw the panel and send the drawing over for you to check before anything is cut.

Pick the width and height bands from the overall size of the panel, corner to corner, not the short side.

Measure it properly, because it cannot be recut

Once glass is toughened it cannot be cut, drilled or edged. Every hole, notch and polished edge happens before it goes through the furnace, so a panel that is 5mm too big is scrap, not an adjustment. Measure the aperture in three places and work to the smallest, and allow a sensible gap for the clamps or channel you are fitting into rather than cutting it tight. If you are unsure, send us the opening sizes and what you are fixing into and we will work the glass size out for you.

What it is right for

  • Infill for framed glass and wire balustrades, where posts, clamps or a channel hold the panel
  • Decking, terrace and balcony balustrade infill
  • Wind screens, privacy screens and garden dividers
  • Replacing a broken pane in an existing framed balustrade
  • Shelving, table tops, splashbacks and covers

What it is not right for

Do not use 10mm toughened on a frameless balustrade. A frameless run with no handrail relies on laminated glass, so that if a pane is ever broken the interlayer holds it in place and the barrier still does its job. Toughened glass on its own shatters into fragments and leaves an open drop. For frameless work you want laminated, which is what our System 4 and System 7 are built with. Our glass balustrade building regulations guide sets out which is required where.

Other options

  • Frosted and tinted glass in the same 10mm thickness, available on request
  • Angled and shaped panels cut to the rake of a staircase. For small stair panels in ready made sizes, see our shaped stair and decking glass panels
  • Holes, notches, cut-outs and shaped panels are priced individually, so tell us what you need before you order and we will price it

Delivery and handling

Most of our glass goes out on a pallet, and in the great majority of cases the vehicle has a tail lift and the driver has a pump truck. That is how it usually works rather than a service we can guarantee, so if you need a tail lift or kerbside help confirmed for your delivery, tell us before you order and we will check it. Have two people and a clean flat area ready to receive it and check it over before you sign. Toughened glass is strong across the face and vulnerable on the edges and corners, which is where almost all breakages start.

Polished edges and a proper 5mm radius corner as standard on all four corners, not the dubbed corner knocked off by hand that a lot of suppliers will quote you. Details on our material and finish standards page.
