Bronze tinted toughened glass, cut to your millimetres. The warmer of the two tints we supply. It is the same 10mm toughened panel as our 10mm clear glass, same glass, same standards, same fixings, carrying a bronze tone that takes the hard edge off strong light.
How to order
Pick the width band and the height band your panel falls into. We then cut it to the exact millimetres you give us.
- 500 x 500mm is the smallest band. We will happily make a 400 x 400mm panel, so pick the 500 x 500mm band and send us your exact sizes
- Largest size online is 2000 x 1100mm. Anything larger, or an unusual shape, is quoted individually - send us the sizes and we will price it
- Set the quantity to the number of panels you need at that size. Different sizes need adding separately
- Send us your exact sizes after you order and we will confirm them back to you before the glass is cut
Raking panels for staircases
If the panel follows the pitch of a flight rather than sitting square, choose "Raking for a staircase" under panel shape. Any angle is fine, and you do not need to work the angle out yourself. Send us the two vertical heights and the length along the pitch, or a sketch with the measurements on it, and we will draw the panel and send the drawing over for you to check before anything is cut.
Pick the width and height bands from the overall size of the panel, corner to corner, not the short side.
Bronze or grey?
Worth being straight about this, because it is the only real decision on this page.
Bronze is the warmer tone, and it belongs against warm materials: timber decking, brick, stone, oak handrails. Next to those it looks deliberate. Against stainless steel or a cool grey powder coat it can read as slightly off, and that is where most people are happier with grey smoked, which is our more popular tint by some distance.
So: bronze if the surrounding materials are warm and you want the glass to agree with them. Grey if you are not sure, or if the metalwork is the thing you want the glass to sit quietly beside.
How private is it?
More private than people expect, and this is the thing most customers do not realise about tinted glass.
Think of it as the middle step of three. Clear glass hides nothing. Frosted, in a screen with air behind it, holds back almost all detail, so you get light without any view either way. Tinted sits between the two. You read shapes and movement through it rather than detail, and it takes a good deal of the exposure out of a screen without closing it down.
That makes it the sensible answer when you want some cover but still want the view: a balcony screen overlooking a neighbour, a hot tub surround, a boundary between two decks, a roof terrace that is overlooked on one side. People often ask for frosted, then realise they have blanked out the very thing they built the balcony for.
What a tint actually does
Tinted glass is chosen for how it looks and how it sits in strong light, not for how strong it is. It is the same 10mm toughened panel underneath, so it carries no more load than clear and it is specified the same way. What you do get is a screen that is easier on the eye where the sun is on it, and one that does not show every mark and fingerprint the way clear glass does.
If you need it thicker than 10mm
Our tinted panels are 10mm, which suits most jobs. If yours needs more than that it is still possible, it just becomes a made-to-order laminated build rather than something off the list. There are two routes: laminate the tinted panel to another pane, which gives you the extra thickness and the laminated safety build-up with the colour in the glass itself; or use a tinted interlayer, where the colour goes into the laminate between two panes rather than into the glass.
Which one suits depends on the job and the look you are after, so send us the sizes and tell us what the panel is doing.
Measure it properly, because it cannot be recut
Once glass is toughened it cannot be cut, drilled or edged. Every hole, notch and polished edge happens before it goes through the furnace, so a panel that is 5mm too big is scrap, not an adjustment. Holes, notches, cut-outs and shaped panels are priced individually, so tell us what you need before you order and we will price it. Measure the aperture in three places and work to the smallest, and allow a sensible gap for the clamps or channel you are fitting into rather than cutting it tight. For anything unusual, use our bespoke service.
Delivery and handling
Most of our glass goes out on a pallet, and in the great majority of cases the vehicle has a tail lift and the driver has a pump truck. That is how it usually works rather than a service we can guarantee, so if you need a tail lift or kerbside help confirmed for your delivery, tell us before you order and we will check it. Have two people and a clean flat area ready to receive it and check it over before you sign. Toughened glass is strong across the face and vulnerable on the edges and corners, which is where almost all breakages start.
Polished edges and a proper 5mm radius corner as standard on all four corners, not the dubbed corner knocked off by hand that a lot of suppliers will quote you. Details on our material and finish standards page.

A note on specification
The guidance on this page reflects what we typically supply for jobs of this kind, and is offered in good faith to help you order the right thing. It is not a structural specification and it is not a substitute for project-specific design. Barrier heights, spans, loadings, fixings, substrates and exposure all vary from site to site, and the final specification for your project remains the responsibility of you, your designer, your structural engineer or your building control body. We manufacture and supply to the sizes and specification you give us. If you are unsure, send us the details before ordering and we will tell you what we would normally supply for a job like yours.
Survey and installation
We survey, we install nationwide with our own teams, and we sell supply only if you have your own fitter. The detail is in the product description above. For a price on your job, email us your postcode.
