Getting the best out of it
Remember that the posts do not go at the sail corners. Allow roughly 300mm to 600mm per corner for the hardware, so a 3m x 3m x 3m sail needs post centres wider than 3 metres.
Keep it lightly tensioned. Enough to take the slack out and stop it flapping, and no more. Set the corners at clearly different heights so rain runs off rather than pooling, and if water is still collecting, increase the fall rather than the tension. Take the sail down ahead of high winds and over winter: it is a fabric canopy, not a roof, and that is what makes it last.
Follow the care and tensioning guidance supplied with the sail. There is more on planning a sail in our shade sail post guide.
