Meet the Team

Dio-Met is run by the people who answer the phone. There is no call centre and no automated menu. When you ring you speak to somebody who knows the work, and when you ring again you can speak to the same person.

The office is deliberately small, so the person who prices your job is the person who sees it through. Behind it sits a Sheffield workshop of time served fabricators and our own install teams, who cover the whole country.

A family business since 1991

Dio-Met was founded in 1991 by Ged and his wife Linda, who built it from nothing into the manufacturer it is today. Ged had started his own career as an apprentice fabricator and worked through every stage of the trade before starting the company, so there is very little about architectural steelwork he has not dealt with at first hand.

Linda has since retired from the business. Ged, who remains Executive Director, is now largely retired as well and keeps his hand in where it matters most, overseeing the UKCA and factory production control documentation behind our structural steelwork. The company is now run by the second generation, and it is still owned by the same family that started it.

The management team

Rob, Managing Director

Rob is Ged and Linda's son. He began on the shop floor and worked up through fabrication, installation and AutoCAD design before taking on the running of the company. He looks after sales, finance, marketing and product development, and handles most of the commercial and technical enquiries that come into the business.

Lee, Managing Director

Lee trained as a plater and joined Dio-Met on the shop floor before moving into a foreman role, where he reorganised much of how the workshop runs. He is now lead commercial estimator and contract manager, and is closely involved in production planning and business development.

Contracts, dispatch and production

Adam, Contracts Manager

Adam joined as an apprentice warehouse operative and moved into the office after showing a clear aptitude for the technical side of the work. He manages sales contracts and produces the detailed AutoCAD drawings issued to customers for approval before anything is cut.

Sarah, Dispatch Manager

Sarah looks after dispatch and logistics along with the administration behind our quality procedures. If you have placed an order, Sarah is usually the person who contacts you about delivery.

Matt, Production Manager

Matt has been with Dio-Met for more than fifteen years, moving from the workshop into production management. He monitors daily production and work distribution, and maintains the documentation behind our factory production control system.

The workshop

The workshop runs apprentices learning the trade alongside fabricators and installers who have been with us twenty years and more. Between them they have put out thousands of jobs over thirty-five years, from a single Juliet balcony to the stairs and balustrades on a commercial building, delivered and installed across the UK and crated for export worldwide.

Structural steelwork is manufactured under a certified factory production control system and UKCA marked to BS EN 1090-2. Anything complicated is trial built in the workshop before it leaves, so problems are found in Sheffield rather than on site.

We do not subcontract installation. Where we fit a job, our own installers carry it out. That is how we keep control of the quality of the work and of what happens on your site.

Come and see us

There is only so much a page like this can tell you. We are at 150 Worksop Road, Attercliffe, Sheffield S9 3TN. It is a working factory rather than a showroom, but you can see samples, whatever is in production that week, and there are always hinged glass floors here to stand on. Ring ahead so somebody is about.

More about the company on our about page, the work itself in our projects, and what customers make of us on our testimonials page.
