The sizes above are your structural opening, not the balcony.

A Juliet balcony has to fix back to solid structure at each side, so it is made wider than the opening it guards. Allow 150mm each side, about 300mm wider overall. Choose the size of the opening itself and we build to suit it.

Check the typical detail drawing (PDF) before you order. It shows the opening, the overall width and where it fixes.

The Elegance is built differently from our other glass Juliets. Rather than spanning the opening as a single panel, it uses intermediate 48mm tubular stainless posts with a handrail over the top, which is closer to a side-mounted balustrade than a single infill.

That is what lets it cover wider openings in slimmer material, all the way to 3500mm.

The trade-off is in the fixing. The posts are side mounted, so there has to be room below the door opening to land the post fixings. Worth checking what you have there before you order, and send us a photograph if you are not sure.

UKCA marked, and compliant for domestic use

UKCA marked to BS EN 1090-2, execution class EXC2, as all our structural steelwork is. That is a legal requirement rather than a badge. The UKCA mark and the Declaration of Performance are issued against the goods on completion of fabrication and supplied with the order.

The balustrade is designed in accordance with BS 6180, the code of practice for barriers in and about buildings, for domestic applications, at 0.74kN/m loading and 1100mm high. Commercial, public and multi-occupancy buildings are designed to higher imposed loads, so if it is going anywhere other than a private dwelling, tell us at enquiry stage and we will design and price it to the right loading. Structural calculations are available on request either way.

Our balcony and Juliet building regulations guide covers guarding heights, loadings and building control sign-off in plain English.

How it is made

  • 48mm tubular stainless steel baluster posts
  • 42mm or 60mm tubular stainless steel handrail, sized to the span
  • 10mm toughened safety glass with polished edges and radius corners, clear or frosted, selected above
  • All stainless components are 316 grade, satin polished to a 320 grit minimum
  • Extends 150mm wider than the door opening on each side to bracket centre
  • Wall fixings are not supplied: your installer sources anchors to suit the substrate, because the right fixing depends entirely on what you are fixing to
  • Structural calculations available on request
  • 10 year structural warranty

316 grade rather than 304 is worth knowing about if you are anywhere near the coast. It is the more corrosion resistant of the two, and it is what we use as standard rather than as an upgrade.

Made in our Sheffield workshop. 100% positive feedback across more than 78,000 eBay sales, and 4.8 out of 5 from over 180 Google, Trustpilot and Yell reviews.

Sizes

1200mm to 3500mm above, which is the widest range of any Juliet we make. Measure the structural opening, not the door. For a size between the bands, or wider again, tell us the opening width and we will price it.

On a wide opening there are two ways to go, and they look quite different. This one uses intermediate posts, so there is an upright in the run. The Wide Span uses a heavier 60mm rail to span 2400mm to 3500mm in one clear run with no post at all. If an uninterrupted view is the priority, go Wide Span; if the side-mounted fixing suits your opening better, this is the one.

Take the widest of three measurements across the structural opening rather than an average. The balcony has to cover the opening at its widest point and the fixings land outside it, so the widest figure is the one that matters. Our Juliet balcony measuring guide shows where to measure and how much we add each side.

Installation

  • Delivered in kit form, designed for straightforward assembly
  • Fixing instructions are included, with further guidance a phone call away
  • Installation by our own site teams is available as an optional extra. Ask for it with your enquiry and we will price it alongside the balcony.

Check there is sound masonry below the opening for the post fixings before you order. Working at height is your responsibility. Use properly erected access equipment.

We do not assess what your wall is built from. We certify the balcony; we never certify the structure it is fixed to.

Stainless steel is simple to look after, but it is not maintenance free. Wash it down a few times a year, more often near the coast or a busy road, and it will keep its finish.

Other glass Juliets in the range

  • Wide Span - the other answer to a wide opening, a heavier rail instead of posts, and no upright in the view
  • Modern Style - single panel in stainless clamps, up to 2100mm, and held in stock
  • Wembley - single panel on gaskets, with the fixings concealed
  • The full Juliet balcony range - curved, flat, ornate, stainless and frameless glass

Not sure which suits your opening? Our Juliet balcony buying guide compares the designs and covers sizing, fixings and planning permission.

Fixings

Every fixing needed to assemble the balcony is supplied with it.

Wall and floor fixings are not supplied on a supply only order. The right anchor depends on what your building is made of and what condition it is in, and that is not a call we can make from here. Fixing points come drilled ready and your installer selects anchors to suit the substrate. Where we install, we take that decision on site and provide them.

Survey and installation

We survey, we install nationwide with our own teams, and we sell supply only if you have your own fitter. The detail is in the product description above. For a price on your job, email us your postcode.
