Connectors

These join tube to tube and make the run continuous. Unlike key clamps, they sit tight to the tube and read as part of the rail rather than as a visible casting, which is why they are the ones to use where the handrail is on show.

  • 90 degree elbow for a square corner, and the adjustable corner elbow where the corner is not square
  • 135 and 45 degree elbow for the shallower turns you get round a landing or a bay
  • In-line connector joins two lengths end to end, which is how you make a run longer than the tube you can get up the stairs
  • 3 way tee picks up a branch off a straight run
  • Handrail to post and corner handrail connectors step a 42mm rail onto a 48mm post, straight or on a corner

End caps

An open tube end looks unfinished, fills with water outdoors, and on a public handrail is a snagging point. Capping it takes seconds.

  • Standard tube end caps for 42mm and 48mm, the plain finish to a run
  • Slotted end caps for slotted tube, so the glass channel is closed off too
  • Multi grooved and square caps where the detail needs to match existing work
  • Terminating return elbow turns the rail back into the wall instead of stopping in mid air, which is what most public buildings and Part M want

Getting the size right

Measure the outside diameter of your tube before ordering. 42mm and 48mm look similar on a wall and are not interchangeable. If you are matching an existing rail rather than building new, measure it rather than guessing, and if a fitting is unusual, send us a photo and we will tell you what it is.

Tube is under handrail tube and posts, wall brackets under handrail brackets, and if you would rather bolt a rail together with an allen key than have it welded, see key clamp fittings.

Not a standard size?

This is made to order in our own Sheffield workshop, so it can just as easily be made to your dimensions instead. Send a photo and rough sizes and we will price it.
