Shed Security Bar

A 40 x 10mm solid steel bar that spans the door and the hinges, bolted through with coach bolts. It is as much a visual deterrent as a physical one, which is rather the point. Six stocked lengths, or made to your own size.

Picking the right length

The bar needs to overlap the opening at both ends so the brackets land on solid frame either side. Work from the width of your opening:

• 1000mm bar for openings up to 800mm
• 1200mm bar for openings up to 1000mm
• 1500mm bar for openings up to 1300mm
• 1800mm bar for openings up to 1600mm
• 2000mm bar for openings up to 1800mm
• 2500mm bar for openings up to 2300mm

How it is built

• 40 x 10mm solid steel bar
• 5mm thick steel brackets, two supplied as standard
• Hot dip galvanised as standard, weatherproof for 25 years
• Black powdercoated finish available as an option
• M6 x 100mm coach bolts with large bearing washers included
• Masonry fixings available on request

Fitting it

Drill four holes and bolt the brackets on. The bar slides through the brackets rather than being fixed into them, so there is plenty of tolerance if your holes are a couple of millimetres out, and it can be fitted either way round. What matters is that the brackets land on the frame or a solid upright either side of the opening and that the bar covers the hinges, because a bar bolted to the door leaf is doing nothing at all.
